Parktown Girls matriculants leave shoes for the destitute

PARKTOWN - The St Vincent de Paul Society has approximately 2500 members and volunteers.

Matriculants from Parktown High School for Girls generously left their school shoes next to their desks after their last exam paper on 27 November.

The shoes are collected by the Saint Vincent de Paul Society and are donated to the less fortunate.

The St Vincent de Paul Society has approximately 2 500 members and volunteers who work very hard to assist people in need and combat injustice. The society relies on contributions from other caring people who allow them to be their hands, carrying comfort, compassion and practical help to those most in need.

“Our girls have been donating their shoes for the past 10 years which I think is really wonderful. It is obvious that they will not wear their school shoes when they leave so it is a lovely gesture to give them away to the less fortunate,” said Candice Bremner, deputy principal at the school.
