Police concerned by murders of 3 Parks women

PARKVIEW – Police have cited concern following the murders of three women at their homes in the Parks over the past few months.

In March a 70-year-old woman was shot dead at her Parktown North home, her 79-year-old husband was linked to the murder and has since been arrested and released on R10 000 bail. Read More on this story here.

On the day of the release of the national crime statistics by Minister of Police Nkosinathi Nhleko in September, an 89-year-old woman was murdered and possibly raped at her Craighall Park home. Read more on this story here.

In October, a 55-year-old radiologist was found dead at her Parkview home. Ward 87 councillor Amanda Forsythe said she was shocked by the tragic event as Parkview was one of the safest suburbs in her ward. Read more on this story here.

Parkview police spokesperson Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha said they were concerned by the deaths of these women, “However we would like to reassure the community that we will leave no stone unturned in our ongoing investigations,” he said.

Ramovha added they were confident in getting a conviction in the case of the elderly man linked to the murder of his wife, “The two recent [cases] are getting our utmost attention as far as investigations are concerned.”

Ramovha also appealed to members of the public who may have information that could lead to an arrest to come forward, “Partnerships between communities and police yield results as far as fighting crime is concerned,”
