Police nab credit card fraudster

DUNKELD WEST – Parkview police nabbed a fraudster who purchased furniture to the value of R120 000 using different credit cards.

The 38-year-old foreigner had apparently been purchasing merchandise at a bedding shop in Dunkeld West over a two week period.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha said the manager of the store had become suspicious of the suspect, and he alerted police when the suspect returned to the store, presumably to perform another transaction.

Police arrived at the store and arrested the foreign national before detaining him at the Parkview Police Station. “He was charged with several counts of fraud and he appeared at the Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court and remanded in custody until his next appearance,” said Ramovha.
