Get up close and personal with Branden James
JOBURG - America's Got Talent 2013 finalist Branden James will perform an exclusive, intimate, one-night-only show in Sandton next month.
In Branden James – Up Close and Personal, the classical/crossover tenor will take the audience on a musical journey that encompasses his love for all genres, especially classical, theatre, jazz and pop.
“Remembered as one of the popular Twelve Tenors when they performed to a great response and critical acclaim in Johannesburg in 2010, James has [wanted] to return to the city and country he fell in love with while here, ever since,” said executive producer Collett Dawson of the CoLab Network.
The singer will treat the audience to instantly-recognisable hits like You Raise Me Up, Nessun Dorma, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, New York New York, Desperado, Rocket Man, Your Song, This is a Man’s World, Ave Maria, and The Prayer.
British diva vocalist Alison Ward and local rock legend Cito of WONDERboom will join James for a few numbers on stage.
The singers will be accompanied by Wayne Purchase on piano and Elena Zlatkova on violin.
James said that he “instantly fell in love” with South Africa on his first visit here in 2010.
“There is a spirit in the culture and the people of South Africa that is unparalleled,” he said.
“I find the political history and triumph over struggle so incredibly fascinating. I’ve dreamt of my return to the heart and soul of Africa for many years, and I cannot wait to share an afternoon of song with you… May it be the first of many return trips.”
