Letter to the editor: Smaller security companies praised by reader

Nettie writes:

This letter is in response to the article, Rather choose local, week ending 15 August.

In brief: Andre Snyman of eBlockwatch mentioned that bigger international security companies have the power of marketing on their side, but fail to give their clients a sense of real security.

He advocates that smaller, community-based security companies be used, as clients are more than just house numbers, the clients are personally known and personally taken care of and focused on.

This is so true. Large companies have no real relationship with their clients, we are just numbers to them.

There are so many different security men because of the large number of staff, that it is virtually impossible to build up any relationship with them.

I want to mention that there is one security company who passes the client satisfaction test with flying colours.

As a recent client of barely a year, I already know the security chaps by name and have established a good relationship with them.

They are on the ball, 24/7/365. When the panic button is pressed, they not only send an SMS and phone you but within a matter of five minutes or less, the car is at your door.

They will linger until you are safely indoors. If you are feeling uneasy they will enter the premises before you to check everything is okay.

This is a great service in particular for the elderly and the ladies. They are loyal, protective and completely trustworthy. With so many cases of police and security intimidation, brutality and corruption constantly being on the news, it is a fact of life within the current South African protection and justice system that only the element of dedicated South African men working within a security company such as this, are able to prevent crime and offer the best client security and personal relationships.
