Burglar nabbed in Parktown

PARKTOWN – Prompt response by 24/7 Security together with Parkview police led to the arrest of a suspect who had allegedly tried to rob a Parktown household.

Parkview police spokesperson, Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha said a neighbour heard the sound of shattering glass coming from the home in Loch Avenue. “On investigation, he [the neighbour] noticed one male standing next to the broken window attempting to gain entry [into the house],” said Ramovha.

However, when the suspect realised he had been spotted by the neighbour, he allegedly tried to flee by jumping a wall.

Police and 24/7 Security officials who had been alerted, caught up with the suspect and apprehended him.

The suspect is expected to appear at the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court on charges of housebreaking, with intent to steal.
