Occupational therapy room for to St Vincent School for the Deaf.

ROSEBANK – The Rosebank Rotary Ann’s Club helped upgrade an old of the squash court into an occupational therapy room at St Vincent School for the deaf on Monday 2 June.

The school, which has been educating deaf children for the past 75 years, has more than 300 pupils between the ages of two to 20 years from all over Gauteng.

The room will provide for the physical development of the children through the help of caregivers such as Terence Parkin. Parkin is a deaf swimmer who won a silver medal in the 200m breaststroke at the 2000 Sydney Olympics Games.

The club is an organisation of dedicated volunteers who share a passion for community service and undertake projects within the Rosebank area.

Principal of the school, Ingrid Parkin, who herself is deaf and a former pupil at the school said the room would provide physical development for the children, which is crucial at their age. She expressed gratitude to the club for its contribution.
