German school beerfest coming soon

The Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg (DSJ) will host the 107th annual Schulbasar on 24 May.

The Schulbasar has become a highlight on the Johannesburg social calendar in recent years and caters for the entire family.

The school’s marketing manager, Savo Ceprnich said The Graeme Watkins Project and CrashCarBurn will headline the live entertainment at this year’s beer tent.

“We also welcome The Illustrators and up-and-coming acts Sutherlands, and Only Forever who will make their debut appearance,” he said. “This year’s DSJ raffle is packed with wonderful prizes with a main prize of a flight for two to Germany courtesy of Lufthansa.”

Whoever wins the second prize will not be disappointed either as they will walk away with a four-day cruise to the Portuguese Islands courtesy of cruise company, MSC.

“Raffle tickets are only R10 each and you may enter as many times as you please. Booklets are available at DSJ reception and will be sold on the day of the Schulbasar,” said Ceprnich.

The DSJ market place is also set to be the best one yet with more than 30 stalls selling goods such as African clothing and instruments, to handmade teddy bears and high-end jewellery.

Those bringing their children, or even husbands, can look forward to them being entertained at the Playstation booth, armed with new PS4s to keep everybody happy.

Ceprnich said, “The Schulbasar will be a day of good German food, beer drinking and plenty of fun-filled activities.”
