On the Foxwood stage in May

HOUGHTON - Foxwood Theatre will keep it lighthearted this month, with a tribute to Broadway's bright lights and chorus lines, and a comedic Afrikaans one-hander.

The theatre is located in the tranquil grounds of boutique hotel, Foxwood House.

Kevin Feather and Lyn Locketz, who treated audiences to La Mome tribute show, Passionate Piaf, have teamed up again for Brilliant Broadway.

The cabaret will feature songs drawn from Broadway classics like Showboat, West Side Story, South Pacific, The King and I, Phantom of the Opera, and Les Miserables.

“Locketz impressed and moved audiences with her interpretation of the the Little Sparrow in Passionate Piaf, and she [will now] showcase her versatility to capture a variety of vocal styles, from Ethel Merman to Sarah Brightman,” said theatre manager Clive Rodel.

“Once again, Feather will accompany and narrate, telling interesting stories surrounding some of the world’s most beloved musical theatre shows and its stars.”

Brilliant Broadway will run over weekends from 9 until 25 May. Shows on Fridays and Saturdays will take place at 8pm, and on Sundays at 12pm.

Theatre-lovers were advised to book in advance for the 11 May Mother’s Day performance and lunch buffet.

Afrikaans audiences can look forward to laughing along with Gys de Villiers in Greig Coetzee’s Wit Manne se Wapens.

The one-man show will look back at an older man’s time in the army – and will ask the question, “Where do we stand now?”

Wit Manne se Wapens will run from 1 until 4 May.
