Weed dealer nabbed

ROSEBANK – Security officials and police worked together to arrest a dagga dealer operating in Rosebank.

Security officials and police worked together to arrest an alleged dagga dealer operating in Rosebank.

The 48-year-old male suspect was identified through a weekly meeting that police have with various security officials in the area, said police spokesperson Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe.

Mdletshe said the man was apprehended by the Rosebank Management District in the Rosebank CBD, “He was searched and they recovered 29g of dagga from him,” said Mdletshe.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court on a charge of possession of dagga.

In February, cancer-stricken Member of Parliament Mario Oriani-Ambrosini made a desperate plea to President Zuma and government to decriminalise the medical use of dagga. However cultivation, possession and sale of the substance remains illegal in the country.
