Old Eds gives member honorary life membership

HOUGHTON - The Old Edwardian Society has honoured one of its members, Roley Wright with an honorary life membership.

Wright has been a member of the society for more than 60 years and has contributed significantly to the water polo team at the club.

He started playing water polo for the club in 1952 and has been an active member in the Reserve League for 15 years as the team captain.

Wright also started the Old Crocks water polo team and has played a significant role in coaching many of the players who came under his wing.

Mike Dunk, communications officer of the society, described Wright as a typical Old Edwardian.

“After gaining his colours at school, he joined the club, and his dedication and commitment to water polo and the society… has led to this richly deserved award being made,” Dunk added.
