Tear gas used in Greenside robbery

GREENSIDE - A man and his son were robbed at gunpoint in their Clovelly Road home on a Friday morning.

GREENSIDE – A man and his son were robbed at gunpoint in their Clovelly Road home on a Friday morning.

Parkview police spokesperson Princess Mudau said the man was tied up and sprayed with tear gas during the robbery.

“The man and his son went to their garage. He opened the garage, and as they entered, they saw three men outside.The men were armed with guns and entered the garage too,” she said.

The suspects sprayed tear gas at the man and tied him up with tape, and then took his son into the house to show them where the valuables were kept. One of the suspects stayed with the man in the garage.

The suspects took television sets, computers, jewellery and an iPad.

Mudau said the suspects saw the man’s wife at the gate as they were about to load the goods into one of the cars.

The suspects fled with jewellery, money and the iPad, leaving behind the televisions and computers.

The value of the stolen items was estimated at R250 000.

No arrests have been made.
