Trouble ‘child’ Pule in hot water again
WHEN you don’t act against the likes of disgraced former Communications Minister Dina Pule, you invite trouble.
Pule received a slap on the wrist for not declaring her romantic relationship with businessman Phosane Mngqibisa, who had pocketed millions from an ITC indaba hosted by the communications department last year.
The ANC politician kept her position after the ruling party decided not to take action against her.
And guess what? Pule is unsurprisingly in trouble again, this time for failing to declare her financial and business interests on time to Parliament’s joint ethics committee. She faces another public condemnation.
This episode is, like many others, a self-inflicted wound for the ANC. When you recycle deadwood, you get a government that’s rotten to the core.
Pule will feel her presence in Parliament is justified, after all other ANC politicians such as Bheki Cele, Tony Yengeni, Fikile Mbalula and President Jacob Zuma have been recycled successfully.
But you can’t get a clean government when key positions are held by deadwood and people with questionable reputations.
