Hilbrow to host traditional dance

TRADITIONAL dance will this weekend lighten up Hillbrow when it hosts the Tsa Setso Traditional Dance on 15 September.

The event is aimed at promoting and facilitating the celebration of Gauteng’s cosmopolitan lifestyle through dance performances and to create an enabling environment for artists to participate in dance programmes.

The Tsa Setso dance programme, which is one of the build-up activities to the provincial Heritage Day, will constitute different forms of cultural and indigenous dance which are found in Gauteng including kwasa-kwasa, mokorotlo, ukuxhentsa and hip-hop.

The occasion is a brain-child of the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation which focuses on providing a platform to showcase indigenous and arts forms and also to bridge the gap between life in the city and the townships around the province.
