A show of laughter and education

CRAIGHALL PARK - Children at the Academy for Kids in Craighall laughed their lungs out at a show hosted by Mr ADT, also known as Darrin McDowell.

Organised for free by ADT security company, the show was meant to educate and entertain the children at the same time.

Mr ADT lived up to the expectation when he had the children in stitches throughout the show. He entertained them with magic tricks and puppets and gave tips about home and personal safety.

Children learnt about topics like danger in the kitchen and what to do in the event of a burglary at home. “Press the panic button if you see something terrible,” he said.

They listened attentively when told about fire safety and the dangers of playing with guns and knives. Mr ADT mentioned items like stoves, kettles, heaters and irons can cause harm to them if they are used incorrectly. “Don’t play with something that can cause fire” he told the kids.

He warned them not to play with guns as they could pull a trigger by mistake and cause danger.

He painted a picture of a child who happened to consume paraffin, which was stored inside a soft drink bottle by mistake.

He said, “Before you put something into your mouth just ask mommy and daddy whether you can eat it or drink it.”
