Locals enjoy their morning run at the Johannesburg Zoo

The Joburg Zoo Trot consists of of the 5km and 10km walk or run. Gates open at 06:30, registration is at 07:00 and the race begins at 07:30.

Locals showed up in droves and their sportswear at the Johannesburg Zoo for the Zoo Trot and run on May 21.

The event is organised monthly to promote a healthy lifestyle with a wildlife view for the community.

Johannesburg Zoo’s executive manager Louise Gorden said, “We are always looking forward to more numbers with every trot. Although winter is approaching and the zoo is generally a cold place, I am hoping more people will come through because it’s a safe activity for children and a place where they can also see animals.”

A 5km runner Sarah Hewat said she enjoyed the run and seeing animals made it worth it.
