The Top 16 Youth Owned-Brands Awards announced the 2023 nominees at Standard Bank’s head office

The top 16 youth-owned brands awards are a platform that is aimed at recognizing and celebrating youth excellence.

The Top 16 Youth Owned-Brands Awards are ready for 2023’s cohort and announced this year’s nominees at Standard Bank’s head office in May 11.

The top 16 youth-owned brands awards are a platform that is aimed at recognising and celebrating youth excellence. The awards acknowledge that young people are not only contributing to the economy of South Africa, but the overall image of the country.

Speaking at Rosebank, chief creative and strategy officer and awards judge Bogosi Motshwegwa said there were a few things he was impressed by.

“I was judging the apparel category and what stood out for me was there were brands I knew nothing about but they stood out and spoke for themselves. The owners and founders were deliberate and meticulous about the vision and direction of their brands.”

Another award judge and Wits Business School Marketing Officer , Yasira Cajee added that she was impressed by how the nominees incorporated the educational streak in the building of their brands.

Travel and lifestyle influencer and nominee, Thobi Rose expressed her gratitude, “A lot of the time when people think content creation, they always focus on the beauty side and it is good to see the other sides of content creation being recognised . I took content creation seriously four years ago and I have been travelling my whole life hence this is a calling rather than a job.”

The awards consist of 16 categories which include: accessories, homeware, beverages, media, agriculture and etc.

The awards are scheduled to take place annually on June 15.
