Pridwin Preparatory School hosted its rugby 7s festival

Pridwin Preparatory School is celebrating its centenary year.

Schoolboy rugby fans cheered, whistled, and clapped at Pridwin Preparatory’s centenary rugby 7s festival at their Simelane Oval Sport’s ground on May 5 and 6.

The 10 teams that participated in the festival were Pridwin Preparatory, St John’s Preparatory, St Peter’s Preparatory, St Benedict’s Primary School, St David’s Marist Inanda, St Stithians Boys School, Heronbridge College, Waterkloof House Preparatory School, Orchards Primary School, and The Ridge.

The overall winners of the festival were St Stithians who scored 43 tries.

Rugby players who were recognised as the ‘most outstanding player of the festival’ were Paul Tebeila from Pridwin Preparatory and Thoriso Miya from St Stithians Boys School.

Pridwin is proud to provide a platform for young rugby players to showcase their skills and a chance for the community to come together and support their local schools.

Pridwin’s headmaster Ross Grimley said, ” The rugby festival not only provides a valuable opportunity for the boys participating to showcase their rugby talents but also helps them to develop important life skills such as resilience, perseverance and teamwork.”

Some of the results from the games played were:

  • St Stithians Boys School 7 Pridwin Preparatory 1
  • Pridwin Preparatory 2 St Benedict’s Primary School 1
  • Pridwin Preparatory 6 The Ridge 0.
