Easter festivities see 84 suspects held in Norwood SAPS cells

Norwood police, working with security company members and the public managed to put 84 suspects inside the cells during the month of Easter.

The Norwood police holding cells welcomed 84 suspects during the Easter month. Norwood police spokesperson Warrant Officer Eric Masotsha reported that suspects were arrested for various crimes: possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of drugs, robbery with a firearm, grievous bodily harm, assault, housebreaking and theft, kidnapping, dealing in drugs, contravention of the Liquor Act of 2003, driving under the influence of alcohol, tampering with essential infrastructure, common assault under domestic violence, common robbery, intimidation, theft, resisting arrest, use of a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, fraud, shoplifting, undocumented migrants and drinking in public.

The office of the Norwood SAPS station commander Colonel Logan Govender and the station management applauded its members and thanked all the private security company members who work tirelessly with the police in the fight against crime and effect arrests. Members of the public were thanked for, ‘giving the men in blue information which mostly bears fruit.’
