An energetic run and walk at the Johannesburg Zoo trot

Locals showed up in droves at the Parkview-based zoo for the monthly morning runs and walk.

Young and old enjoyed a fresh air-filled 5 km and 10 km run and walk at the Johannesburg Zoo Trot on February 19.

According to the executive manager of the zoo, Louise Gordon, the zoo trot is a monthly event with a 5 km or 10 km walk and run.

“This event is intended to encourage people to visit the zoo for their health as well as to see and interact with the animals.”

She states that the event was a success, and people did come in numbers.

“As we will be celebrating our 119 years this coming March on the 12th, we encourage everyone to come and join us on the day.”

Gordon further explains that she knows that people run for fitness and to keep healthy, but on the birthday celebration, there will be cake to be shared by all.
