Hard work pays in music

According to Sbahle, having talent without working hard never pays.

Growing up to the sounds of Brenda Fassie and Whitney Houston, Sibahle Cele’s confidence in music was moulded.

A singer and songwriter, Cele aka Sbahle hails from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal and is currently signed to the Ambitiouz Entertainment record label based in Rosebank.

When she was three years old, her grandfather noticed her talent and saw her mimicking sounds and harmonising with the sweetest of melodies.

“My grandfather, as a musician himself who plays the piano and guitar, nurtured and coached the Sbahle you now know today,” she said.

Cele added she was shy but in 2013 when she was in Grade 10, she confidently went to the front of the choir line to show off her astounding voice for all to hear.

“I joined jazz classes and the Afro Divas band in 2014 which was managed by a great bassist, Philani Ngidi, who contributed to my confidence to sing in front of big crowds.”

The singer and songwriter said she believed in herself enough to know that her musical journey would work but she had worked hard to reach the level she was at now.

“I would love to work with Brenda Mtambo, TS Gwazela, Mafikizolo, Sjava, and Tiwa Savage in the near future.”

Cele shared advice with young artists who looked up to her.

“Never think anything comes easy, hard work pays off. Put the work into your craft and believe in it, that will make it easy for other people to believe in you, and never stop believing in yourself too.”

Sbahle thanked Ambitiouz Entertainment, Umuthi Records, her parents, grandparents, AfroDivas Project, and her supporters for the love and support that she had received from them.
