Orange Grove community members take part in World Cleanup Day

World clean-up day unites a number of volunteers and organisations to tackle global waste.

Norwood’s Community Policing Forum (CPF) Sector 4 chairperson Cebi Ngqinambi said World Cleanup Day united many volunteers to tackle the global waste problem.

“Communities from different backgrounds joined hands again for a waste-free world. Despite our differences, we all agree that we need a clean and safe environment.”

Ngqinambi said she hoped the initiative was the beginning of many to come.

A resident Thabo Mdluli said being part of the initiative was important for him.

“Living in a clean and safe environment is important. Neglected areas are usually filled with litter which also depreciates the value of the houses in the area and ultimately what we don’t want to happen in Orange Grove.”
