Space to do more

Bidvest Services were only happy to sponsor yet another project of the football club.

Big things are under way for a local football club that recently launched a new office in Norwood.

The Norwood Young Stars Football Club launched their offices on May 2 and all this was thanks to Bidvest Services. Founder of the Norwood Young Stars FC Venita Masisi expressed her gratitude to Bidvest who has sponsored the club since 2019.

“Our kits come from them so when you guys go out there and look so smart, remember it’s Bidvest. Even the groceries that the women received came from them.

“Today we have an office to conduct professional work in. They [Bidvest] want to give back to the community and we are grateful to be recipients.”

She added that the club had women who were going to be sewing as from June at the launched office venue and Bidvest would be buying the sewing machines.

“The women will do the sewing in order to be self-sustained. They will make tracksuits, personal protective equipment and traditional wear. We are going to sell the end products and show that we can also give back to the same community.”

Masisi said Norwood Young Stars FC was currently the best team which plays in the Alexandra and Northrand Local Football Association because of Bidvest. “Already my U13 boys won and will be going for the League Cup. The U15 also won yesterday but lost one game but they are going through. The seniors are presently number one on the log.”

The club founder also thanked Bidvest for paying Quincy Jonas Ndlovu’s whole tertiary fees for the year. Masisi said they (Norwood Young Stars FC) had also adopted Winter Rose from Alexandra who they paid forward to by sharing kits, sporting equipment or whatever they had with

.Accountant at Bidvest Services Chanelle Prince-Smith said, “We are very grateful to help you guys and also grateful to be part of such a big community as well.”

Masisi said the next time Bidvest came to visit they would find them in action with the women sewing. “We are going to launch Wi-Fi and go online.

We will browse career opportunities and have an administrator who will sift CVs for learnerships at Bidvest. They may not choose all of you so you have to work hard to achieve great marks to get you in.”
