Norwood police arrest 61 suspects in a month

At least 61 suspects arrested in the Norwood policing precinct in March.

Norwood Police Station officers under the supervision of new management arrested 61 suspects through March.
Spokesperson Sergeant Eric Masotsha shared the arrests as follows:

1. Attempted murder – two.
2. Attempted robbery – three.
3. Pointing of firearm – one.
4. Housebreaking and theft – two.
5. Possession of stolen property – two.
6. Possession of drugs – two
7. Possession of dagga – three.
8. Assault; grievous bodily injury – five.
9. Assault under domestic violence – three.
10. Assault; common – eight.
11. Contempt of court – one.
12. Dealing in liquor – two.
13. Driving under the influence of alcohol – two.
14. Interference with police while effecting arrest – two.
15. Malicious damage to property – three.
16. Malicious damage under domestic violence – one.
17. Reckless and negligent driving – one.
18. Fraud – five.
19. Shoplifting – six.
20. Theft – three.
21. Intimidation – three.

He added that the majority of the suspects had already appeared in court with others out on bail and others still behind bars. “The Norwood management has not forgotten to appreciate the good working relationship with members of the public as well as our stakeholders in fighting crime; these include private security companies and neighbourhood patrollers.”
