“Arguably one of the best games of the day… Hoërskool Noordheuwel mounted an incredible comeback to level matters when it looked as if they were in for quite a hiding against a well-coached Hoër Landbouskool Boland team,” read a post on the St John’s College Facebook page.

“Boland were the strong starters in the game, winning the territory count and as well as the physical battles first up, racing to a well-deserved 22–11 lead at the break.”
The post continued that the second half saw Boland only slotting a single penalty to add to their tally ‘with Noordheuwel putting in a big shift to claw their way back into the encounter, however, leaving it late to level matters’.

“Big credit to Noordheuwel who did incredibly well to always stay close to Boland in the second half and finding a way back against a Boland side who looked set to run away with the match.”
The match ended in a 25–25 draw.
In the prep game St John’s Prep ran out 34–7 winners against The Ridge School.
