Park Care residents celebrate Valentine’s Day

Park Care residents enjoyed time under the trees on February 14.

Residents at Park Care Centre in Parktown West enjoyed a morning of entertainment under the trees on Valentine’s Day.

Loyal community member Mohammed Sallie entertained residents through his impressions of Elvis Presley while residents of all ages enjoyed sweet treats and conversation.

Business development officer at Park Care Jaqui Smith said that the day was an opportunity to spoil residents and show them love and care.

Social work manager Lorraine le Roux said that the centre likes to celebrate big days like Valentine’s Day to get residents out enjoying the sunshine and interacting with one another.

“It gives them a purpose to come out and lifts their spirits,” said Le Roux.

“We don’t only celebrate romantic love, but show love through acts of kindness and acceptance.”

“Some residents who have no memory of most things remember the words to some classic Elvis Presley songs, while others who cannot talk enjoy singing to the music. The music is so powerful.”

Park Care thanks Helpmekaar Kollege for their generous sponsorship of toiletry bags and sweet treats for the residents to enjoy on Valentine’s Day.
