Captain aims to crack down on crime through community partnership

PARKVIEW – Augustus has served in the police for 16 years and in Parkview since 2019.

Operational commander of visible policing at Parkview Police Station Captain Mzwandile Augustus says he hopes to ensure that criminals have no space to operate.

Augustus has served in the police for 16 years and in Parkview since 2019.

His responsibility includes ensuring that operations are running and members out there have all the necessary equipment to carry out their duties. He is also responsible for gathering the necessary information to go into planning. He manages 67 uniformed officers.

Augustus described himself as a patriotic person, which motivated him to join the police.

“SAPS is there to help me partake in taking this country forward with security and stability. The police are a direct agent in driving that. Policing is my passion,” said Augustus.

“We are here to ensure that communities are safe from all forms of crime and ensure that criminals have no space to operate.”

Augustus believes that community partnership is essential to crack down on crime. “Our efforts to crack down on crime would be futile without cooperation from all role players.”

A spokesperson for the station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said, “Captain Augustus is committed to his work and will ensure that all members under him will be visible, patrolling and doing crime prevention.”
