Awards evening highlights academic achievers

PARKVIEW – School marketing manager Kerry Liss said, “These girls worked exceptionally hard to achieve these results and we are very proud of all of them.”

Parktown High School for Girls congratulates learners who achieved academic scrolls, half and full colours for the 2021 academic year at the annual academic awards evening held on January 27.

School marketing manager Kerry Liss said, “These girls worked exceptionally hard to achieve these results and we are very proud of all of them.”

The school also thanked their guest speaker, Angela Cherrington, founder and director of YourHub, a business which assists other businesses to ensure effective operation, good governance and sound business practices. Cherrington spoke to the learners about effectively using their IQ (intelligence quotient), EQ (emotional quotient) and SQ (sociability quotient), which enhances their ability to be flexible and resilient.

The following learners were given special mention:

  • Top learners in each grade went to Sabiha Kücük (Grade 8), Rebecca Leisegang (Grade 9), Christina Vaudran (Grade 10) and Sara McMaster (Grade 11)
  • Tashriq Elmedany won the Di van Zyl Trophy for being an exceptional sportswoman in Grade 11 in 2021 who also achieved an academic average of 70% and above, participates with a spirit of service and is a good Parktown role model
  • Ashlyn Hayter won the Angela Simpson Trophy for a Grade 10 learner of 2021 who participates enthusiastically in the extramural programme, maintained an excellent academic average and participates with a spirit of service and is a good Parktown role model
  • Aaliyah Cassim won the Pam Quin Trophy for a Grade 11 learner in 2021 who participates enthusiastically in the cultural programme, maintained an academic average of 70% and above and participates with a spirit of service and is a good Parktown role model
  • Shristhi Bickram won the Academic Enrichment Trophy for the learner who excelled in academic enrichment activities during the course of 2021.
