Police members sign off with a promotion

PARKVIEW – 13 members were promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Parkview police members had a grand sign-off of the year as some received promotions.

Spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko shared that 13 members were promoted to sergeant. She added that the station had a mini-parade outside and the members received the rank insignia on December 13.

“The announcement of the grade progression of constables who completed eight and more years’ service as members of the Service (SAPS Act) on March 31 2018, and sergeants who completed eight and more years’ service in the rank of sergeant on the same date, who were certified suitable by the Provincial Commissioner of Gauteng, were approved with effect from December 1 this year,” said Sibeko.

She added that Parkview detective head Lieutenant Colonel Fatima Gaffoor, when presenting the rank insignia to the members, reminded them that a rank comes with responsibilities, and the members must be professional when assisting the community.

“The Station Commander Colonel Theledi Gopane welcomed the promotions and congratulated the newly appointed police officials. Colonel Gopane further mentioned that the promotion of the 13 members means improvement in service delivery and the fight against crime. The members must continue to treat the community with respect and dignity, and ensure they serve and protect the community.”
