Local residents association needs more members in 2022

PARKWOOD – Association secretary Marcelle Ravid said they look forward to more residents signing up next year.

For Saxonwold and Parkwood Residents Association (Sapra), its initiative of repainting the street name signs at all 703 intersections throughout Parkwood and Saxonwold was one of their highlight of 2021.

Due to a generous donation, the association’s ‘Green Team’ has been working twice weekly cleaning up, weeding, and taking down illegal signs.

Parkwood had a fabulous Halloween organised by resident Alison Levesley and they hosted a successful pavement competition which got people excited.

Marcelle Ravid association secretary said they look forward to more residents signing up as members next year. “In the new year, Sapra will be tackling the dire state of electricity boxes in the suburbs. We will be looking at their repair and locking with resident ‘captains’ taking care of them,” Ravid said.

The association would like to thank the Rosebank Homeless Association for all that they do for those less fortunate and also the Zoo Lake Users Committee and Fran Haslam for their astounding work around the lake and the renewed basketball courts.

“It is well worth a visit to see the difference these amazing people have made,” Ravid added.

Bill Haslam, association chairperson said, “It has been a very challenging year with poor or little service delivery from the city. But Sapra stepped up to the plate to help wherever it could.

“We are looking forward to working with the new city administration in accordance with their desire to work with communities, for the benefit of our residents. I would like to thank the Sapra committee who worked so hard this year. Wishing everyone happy holidays and a good 2022.”
