A day of poetry at De La Salle Holy Cross College

VICTORY PARK – The school celebrated the beauty of poems by having poems showcased throughout the school.

In acknowledgement of Random Acts of Poetry Day, which fell on October 6, De La Salle Holy Cross College had its learners write poems all around the school grounds.

On this day at the school, children and staff alike grabbed some chalk and wrote the words of their favourite poem on the pavement.

The school’s junior school librarians, Julia Heaney and Alexandra Adams, encouraged children to get a poetry book from the library or think about their favourite poem. They supplied the chalk for the children to write their poems on pavements outside and inside the school.

There were sticky notes and a board in the library for children to write their favourite lines on as well. “We wanted to create the opportunity for the children to express themselves and have a bit of fun with poetry,” said both Heaney and Adams after a day of lots of poetic fun.
