The Hudaco-Ort Project hosts prize-giving ceremony

HOUGHTON – The prize-giving ceremony aimed to remind beneficiaries that their hard work is valued.

A collaboration between Hudaco and Ort aims to ‘teach potential and existing entrepreneurs how to capitalise on opportunities and start and grow sustainable businesses’.

According to Ort SA marketing intern Milani Falitenjwa, “The Hudaco-Ort Project is centred around helping people with disabilities by facilitating their completion of the NQF level 2 New Venture Creation qualification.”

The 10 Hudaco-Ort beneficiaries who completed this qualification, received their Sector Education and Training Authority (Seta) certificates at a ceremony hosted by Ort SA management and staff on August 12 at Ort SA’s offices in Houghton.

Beneficiary Mncedisi Bengu said, “First, it was a surprise. I was fairly happy and shocked at the same time, so I didn’t think I would be successful. My teacher, Sarah Malape, taught me, and she gave me an experience that I never had in my life. My teacher taught me to respect myself and other people and to be myself,” he said.
“I feel excited. At my home, they are going to be happy for me and, ‘say wow you did it.”

Beneficiary Sthembile Gumede added, “I am so happy, and my grandmother is happy for me, and I wish I learnt more because I like books.”

Ort SA said the organisation wished all the beneficiaries of the project well in their future endeavours. “We are grateful to Hudaco for partnering with us to make a difference in people’s lives.”
