EMMARENTIA – Parkview police arrested man on charges of rape.

Parkview police arrested a 48-year-old man for the alleged rape of a 22-year-old woman.

The suspect was arrested on August 29 at his home in Emmarentia.

According to a statement issued by the police, it is alleged that the victim met the perpetrator on an online dating site two weeks ago and reached an agreement to meet on August 28. Apparently, after the victim arrived at the suspect’s place, she was offered a glass of wine and after drinking the wine, the woman became dizzy. The victim asked to be taken back home but the suspect refused and said she could sleep in another bedroom and would be taken home the next morning.

The suspect took the victim to a spare bedroom where he later raped her the whole night without the victim’s consent. The woman suspected that her drink might have been spiked.

In the morning, the victim contacted her sister to come and fetch her. She told her sister what had happened and they went to

Parkview Police Station to open a case of rape.
The suspect appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on August 31 to answer on charges of rape.
