Lend a helping hand to this young artist

JOHANNESBURG – Young artist seeks help in furthering his studies and growing his passion in art.

Self-taught artist from the Joburg Child Welfare’s Masimbambisane Centre appeals to the community for help in nurturing his passion for art.

Leandre Daniels Groeleman is a 19-year-old self-taught artist who started drawing in Grade 4. He describes drawing as his talent as it comes naturally to him and uses HB, B, 2B, charcoal and oil-based pencils for his art.

Groeleman is a beneficiary of the Joburg Child Welfare’s Elton John Masibambane Centre which provides a home for orphans and vulnerable children in Eldorado Park. After matriculating last year, Groeleman applied and got accepted for a degree in arts at the University of Johannesburg but could not further his studies due to a lack of funding.

“I applied for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme hoping to get funding, but due to the circumstances that were surrounding the scheme last year, I did not get funding,” he said.

Groeleman is appealing to members of the community to help sponsor his dream of furthering his studies in art and moulding his passion in art to something bigger than what it currently is.
