Rosebank police arrest one suspect for business robbery

ROSEBANK – Spokesperson for Rosebank Police Station Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe said he is pleased to see the relationship between SAPS and security personnel paying off.

One suspect was arrested by Rosebank police for an armed business robbery which took place in Bolton Road, Rosebank, on August 6.

Head of communications at CAP Security, Elyse Golovey said the CAP command centre received a panic activation from a business in Bolton Road on August 6.

“Tactical units were dispatched, arriving at the scene in two minutes and 17 seconds. On arrival, the officers were confronted by a white Ford Ranger that was backing out of the property,” said Golovey.

“The occupants in the vehicle opened fire and attempted to speed off.”

Golovey added that one suspect was apprehended by CAP on Baker Street.

After the incident, CAP ascertained that more suspects entered the business premises, held up a guard and went into various rooms stealing items before attempting to leave.

Golovey said a field intelligence officer had been assigned to the incident and was working with police to collect traceable information from the scene including video footage from the greater area.

“This information will be shared with SAPS and used to find and arrest the suspects involved. All teams on the ground have been briefed on what to be on the lookout for and will continue to remain vigilant.”

Spokesperson for the Rosebank Police Station Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe said he was pleased to see the relationship between the police and security personnel paying off.

“We want to commend the CAP officers for a job well done,” said Mdletshe.

He added that one suspect was arrested for business robbery and appeared in court on August 10 and did not receive bail.

Police were trying to link the suspects with other business and house robberies that occurred in the precinct recently.

Police were still in pursuit of the two remaining suspects and called on community members with information in this regard to contact the police on 011 778 4700.
