Saxonwold Primary superheroes return to school

SAXONWOLD – Staff were vaccinated last term to ensure their safety.

Learners and staff at Saxonwold Primary School were excited to return to school on July 26.

Marketing head at the school Frankie Cilliers said, “Learners arrived at school this morning with eager and excited faces – we braved the cold and welcomed our learners back with much excitement.”

Acting principal Jadi Mgandela created a superhero guide to allay parents’ fears concerning Covid-19 and learner safety at school following the peak of the third wave, with the school returning to full capacity.

Apart from the use of face masks, learners were advised to also wear face shields as an additional precautionary measure. Separate entrances have been allocated for specific grades to ensure social distancing was adhered to. Assemblies were still being conducted virtually, where learners could log in from their classrooms.

“Our parents need to complete a pre-screening form every morning and learners are screened three times a day in total, where their symptoms are checked and temperatures taken. Our staff are working very hard encouraging social distancing, mask wearing etc. and they do so in a gentle and caring manner,” said Cilliers.

All staff were vaccinated last term to ensure their safety.

“We are optimistic about the term and know that through the support of our parents and team that this will once again be a hugely successful term,” concluded Cilliers.
