Parkview police have arrested two men, aged 22 and 29, for a business robbery which took place in Parkhurst on 31 May.
Station commander for the Parkview Police Station Colonel Theledi Gopane said the suspects were arrested after police received a tip-off about a planned business robbery at a bed and breakfast.
Gopane said the two suspects were allegedly going to book themselves into the guest house, then order items online and rob the owner of the items upon delivery.
Spokesperson for the Parkview police Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said that a team of police, led by Colonel Gopane, proceeded to the address where they saw the men entering the guest house.
“The police got out of the vehicles and they went inside the business place. Upon entering, one suspect was arrested while his accomplice tried to jump the wall, but was apprehended on the street,” said Sibeko.
She said that a 34-year-old male victim was found sitting on the couch with both hands and feet tied up.
“Through preliminary investigation, in the garage, the police discovered a white Citroën with false registration numbers, fully loaded with electrical appliances and a silver revolver with five rounds of ammunition was found behind the passenger seat.”
Parkview police opened a case of business robbery and both suspects were apprehended. “Both suspects will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon to answer to charges of business robbery,” said Sibeko.
Gopane commended the members involved in the operation for their swift response in arresting the suspects and said that police will continue protecting the community.
