Bramley police arrest suspect after follow-home robbery

BRAMLEY – Police are still searching for further suspects in relation to this incident.

Police in Bramley were called to a crime scene on 16 March at about 2pm where an alleged robbery had taken place and a suspect was apprehended.

A spokesperson for the Bramley Police Station Captain Molefe Mogodi said, “It is alleged that the complainant was followed by a white Sandero vehicle until he got to his residential place.

“As he opened the gate and was about to enter, two men who were armed approached and threatened him. One of the suspects then broke the vehicle’s front passenger window, allegedly with a firearm, and a cellular phone was taken from the complainant’s wife.”

Mogodi said the couple screamed for help and the two suspects ran towards their getaway vehicle.

“One suspect was apprehended with the help of a good resident who happened to be there and the firearm, with its serial number filed off, was seized.”

Mogodi added that the suspect would appear in court soon while police were still searching for the remaining suspect.

Still in the Bramley policing precinct, police arrested two suspects, both 41 years old, after having been found in possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

“It is alleged that on 16 March in the late afternoon, the police officers attached to the Highway Patrol Unit were on duty patrolling the area when they received the tracker signal about a stolen vehicle.”

Mogodi said the officers then followed the signal until they reached the corner of Marlboro Drive and Far East Bank Drive in Marlboro Gardens where they found the vehicle.

After further enquiries were made, it was revealed that the vehicle was sought by the Parkview police. The vehicle was stolen during a house robbery incident in the Parkview policing area.

“The two men were taken into custody and shall appear in court soon.”
