A 100 per cent pass for St Teresa’s matriculants calls for celebration

ROSEBANK – The class achieved a 100 per cent pass rate.

The St Teresa’s School matric class was not short of joy as they received their impressive results. Computer educator and marketing liaison Lianda May shared that the school achieved a 100 per cent pass rate accompanied by a 100 per cent BD university entrance pass rate.

There were 161 distinctions out of 50 candidates with an average of 3.2 distinctions each. The grade average was 75 per cent. Three of their top 10 achievers, who were based on overall averages and not number of distinctions achieved, stood out.

These include Ami Janse van Rensburg with eight distinctions; ranked in the top 1 per cent of Independent Examinations Board (IEB) learners for Afrikaans first additional language; IEB commendable achievement for top 5 per cent in five subjects and a rating level of 7 in life orientation.

Danielle Phillips also had a notable achievement of 7 distinctions and ranked in the top 1per cent of IEB learners for geography.

With 8 distinctions and ranked in the top one per cent of IEB learners for Mandarin second additional language, Xinyuan Teng was also among the notable achievers.

St Teresa’s High School principal, Elsa de Bod said, “While I wish to commend all our top achievers for their outstanding results, it would be wrong not to acknowledge the success of the matric Class of 2020 as a whole. They experienced a year filled with new and unimaginable challenges, but each and every girl overcame the difficulties of 2020 in her own way, and every one of these remarkable young ladies deserves praise for that feat alone.

“Moreover, the girls who achieved their personal best results, even if these were not distinctions, deserve to be highly commended for their commitment, hard work and the successes they achieved.”
