St John’s College proud of their 2020 A and AS Level results

HOUGHTON – St John's College is proud to announce the excellent results of the 2020 A Level and AS Level Cambridge exams.

St John’s College was proud to announce their 2020 A and AS Level results in the Cambridge Assessment International Education examinations.

The subject pass rate for learners who wrote the A Level examinations was 99 per cent, while 84 per cent of learners achieved A to C symbols across all subjects – 31 per cent of learners’ symbols were over 90 per cent in one or more A Level subjects while 50 per cent were over 80 per cent in one or more subjects.

The school also congratulates their Lower VI learners who achieved 26 per cent A symbols across their subjects, boding well for their Upper VI A Level 2021 year.

Head of Sixth Form Kate Byrne said, “We are particularly proud that our sixth form students and staff achieved a level of excellence that surpasses all previous years in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. It is no small feat to reach this level of academic excellence under these circumstances.”

The St John’s College Sixth Form has attracted top learners from all over South Africa, Africa and the world. The Cambridge qualifications offered are internationally recognised, giving learners access to universities in South Africa and across the world.

The school highlighted the achievements of the following top six learners in A Level and AS Level:

A Level

  • Isabella Hope (3 A+ symbols, 1 a symbol) and an average of 98 per cent
  • Michaela Marais (4 A+ symbols) and an average of 97 per cent
  • Tristan Crocker (4 A+ symbols) and an average of 95 per cent
  • Alan Pullinger (3 A+ symbols, 1 A symbol) and an average of 94 per cent
  • Lara Moschides (3 A+ symbols, 1 A symbol) and an average of 92 per cent
  • Zain Mothupi (3 A+ symbols, 1 A symbol) and an average of 92 per cent

AS Level

  • Raeesah Jadwat (4 a symbols) and an average of 92 per cent
  • Caroline Jung (3 a symbols) and an average of 89 per cent
  • Charl Malan (1 A+ symbol and 3 a symbols) and an average of 89 per cent
  • Eli Osei (4 a symbols) and an average of 89 per cent
  • Dilan Navin (3 a symbols) and an average of 88 per cent
  • Nomhle Ngwenya (3 a symbols) and an average of 87 per cent.
