Wow honours outstanding women following a tough year

ILLOVO – Award recipients walked away with prizes totalling over R19 000.

Panache and Trade Route Mall held the 6th annual Women of Wonder (Wow) Awards on 28 November at the Imperial Longroom at the Wanderers Stadium where 65 women were honoured with awards.

The event, which normally hosts 700 to 1 000 guests, was sold out three weeks prior to the event with limited seating of 250 people.

The event followed guidelines as per the government to prevent the spread of Covid-19. CEO and founder of the event Farzana Mayet said it was paramount that recipients and guests were safe at the event and enjoyed a relaxing evening.

Renowned global change-maker Catherine Constantinides kept guests entertained at the event while dancers from Desi Motion provided electrifying entertainment.

Award recipients walked away with prizes totalling over R19 000.

The theme for the event was ‘I Conquer’ with recipients sending out strong messages against gender-based violence and stories of how they have conquered despite lockdown and Covid-19.

Among the speakers for the evening was former manager of the South African Cricket Team Dr Mohammed Moosajee. He commended Panache for the professional manner in which the awards were conducted and highlighted the importance of women in society.

The second speaker was Dharshana Naidoo who highlighted the challenges faced by women on a daily basis and how imperative it is to ensure the education of women and the pay it forward role by the Wow Institute of Excellence.
