Ward 81 councillor shares her Christmas message with the community

BRAMLEY – The spirit of Ubuntu carried us all through what was the most difficult time of our lives, says Ward 81 Councillor Irene Rugheimer.

The year 2020 has been a difficult one for many due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 global pandemic and the subsequent national lockdown, said Ward 81 councillor Irene Rugheimer.

“Many have had to close their businesses while others who are breadwinners lost their jobs, making it a very difficult financial year,” she said in an interview with Rosebank Killarney Gazette.

Rugheimer added that she had been encouraged by the tremendous community spirit that had developed during this tough year of lockdown. “Those who could, no matter how little they felt it was, helped the less fortunate and did so with open hearts.”

She said the spirit of giving was evident in the way that local groups worked hard and gave so willingly to help others. “It is also evident in the way that our people coped so admirably with the challenges of the lockdown and showed the enthusiasm of our communities.“I would like to thank everyone for the way they contributed. It is a time to look back on the events of the past year and to look forward with excitement and hope to a new year. The holiday season can be difficult for many people, and my thoughts are with them, along with my sincere wishes for a time of peace and hope for the year that lies ahead.

“As 2020 draws to an end, and the dawn of 2021 approaches, I wish everyone in Ward 81 a happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.”
