St John’s College celebrates progress made with digital learning in 2020

HOUGHTON – Lala said that while the country is not yet out of the woods concerning Covid-19, they are looking forward to a better year in 2021.

St John’s Preparatory School headmaster Lester Lala said the acceleration of digital learning has been a significant highlight during 2020.

“The talented staff of our college adapted with great agility to the demands of online learning,” said Lala.

“Another great highlight has been the completion of the new prep building. This state-of-the-art facility with 17 classrooms, a science lab, a maker space, a hall and innovative breakaway areas has been a welcome addition.”

Lala said the school has had to remain adaptable in the face of constant regulatory change this year. He added that the school’s sense of community and belonging has also been greatly challenged during this period of separation.

Looking ahead to 2021, Lala said that while the country is not yet out of the woods concerning Covid-19, they are looking forward to a better year.

“We will occupy our new preparatory building and implement our innovative curriculum in a facility which is fit for this purpose. Our staff will commence the new academic year focusing on the wellbeing of our boys. This is most crucial following an unforgettable 2020.”

Lala advised residents and friends of St John’s to take time to connect meaningfully with loved ones and friends over the festive season, ‘since the pandemic has taught us what truly matters in life’.
