Three suspects were arrested for the crime and recently appeared in court

PARKVIEW – The complainant and his friend met with the woman at the given address which later turned out to be a Bed and Breakfast.

Parkview police arrested three suspects aged between 23 and 32 for business robbery that occurred in 19th Street Parkhurst.

According to spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, one of the suspects was arrested in Yeoville on16 October and through further investigation, the other two suspects were arrested in Bertrams on 20 October.

“It is alleged that on 14 October at about 6.30pm, the complainant advertised a 75-inch TV on social media, then a lady contacted him saying she wanted to buy a TV. The victim and the lady made an arrangement to meet at 19th Street Parkhurst,” said Sibeko.

The complainant and his friend met with the woman at the given address which later turned out to be a Bed and Breakfast. “The lady, complainant and the friend went inside the house to test if the television was working.”

The captain said while busy connecting the television, three men appeared from a bedroom and two of them pointed firearms at the victims. They then tied them up with cable ties. The suspects then robbed the victims of cell phones, two television sets and a licensed firearm and fled the scene.

“All the suspects appeared at Johannesburg Regional Court on 19 and 22 October to answer on charges of business robbery. Investigation is continuing.”
