NORWOOD – Following the tragic murder that shook the Norwood community, suspects were apprehended a few days after.

Arrests have finally been made in connection with the Nursery Road murder in Norwood.

The Rosebank Killarney Gazette reported on the murder incident where two people had been found murdered by CAP officials in an online article titled CAP and SAPS work together to investigate tragic incident in Norwood [published 27 June].

SAPS provincial spokesperson Brigadier Mathapelo Peters confirmed that four suspects were arrested and appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 30 June.

The suspects were charged with murder, house robbery and possession of suspected stolen property.

“This follows an incident on 24 June 2020 where an elderly couple was found murdered in their house in Orchards, Norwood, east of Johannesburg. The house had allegedly been ransacked and the couple’s Chevrolet Sonic stolen,” Peters said.

She added that the investigation was escalated to the Provincial Investigating Unit who traced and apprehended the suspects in Alexandra.

Brigadier Peters said, “Once court proceedings commence on a case, police no longer comment. Further enquiries may be referred to the National Prosecuting Authority. The deceased couple’s vehicle is yet to be found.”
