Hospice Wits appeals for food donations

HOUGHTON – Hospice Wits made an appeal for food donations on behalf of their 180 patients in Soweto.

Hospice Wits in Houghton needs the community’s help. The organisation which cares for patients with life-threatening illnesses needs food donations.

#StayHomeStaySafe is the agenda of the pandemic that we are currently facing. Another serious issue that we face is our 180 Soweto patients who are at home and are running out of food due to the lockdown,” the organisation posted on its Facebook page.

“Our plea to you all is to please donate food parcels for our loved ones. We’re living in unprecedented times and we all need a helping hand.”

Appealing to residents through ‘the spirit of ubuntu’, Hospice Wits asked that donations be made of non-perishable foods, mealie meal, samp and beans, tea and more. Residents can drop off donations at the Hospice Wits site on 50 2nd Avenue, Houghton; from Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm.
