Norwood police call on community members to be vigilant during 21-day lockdown

NORWOOD – Police urged members of the community not to allow suspicious people into their home but to call the police.

The police have urged residents in Norwood and surrounds to call the police if there are people coming to their homes, claiming to be from the Department of Health during the lockdown period.

This was after concerned community members reported people claiming to be from Covid-19 delegation from the Department of Health came to their home.

Norwood Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Eric Masotsha said members of the community should not allow these people before calling the police.

“It has come to our attention that there were people pretending to be officials from either Department of Health or the so-called Covid-19 delegation that has been tasked to vaccinate family members. We urge community members who come across this false misrepresentation not to allow these people into their homes.”

Masotsha urged community members to use their panic buttons or call Norwood Police Station on 011 483 4609/12/00 when witnessing suspicious criminal activity.
