Two suspects arrested for trespassing and damage to property in Bramley

BRAMLEY– Bramley Police Station spokesperson, Captain Molefe Mogodi said the two suspects were arrested for trespassing and damage to property.


The Bramley police have confirmed the arrest of two male suspects by Fidelity ADT Reaction unit officers on 9 March.

Cathy Findley, the public relations officer at Fidelity ADT, said a resident of Glen Road in Bramley realised that her electricity had been deliberately switched off and immediately pressed her panic button to call for assistance.

“Fidelity ADT Reaction unit officers responded to the scene and called for backup, she said. “On their arrival, they saw two suspects jumping over the wall. They chased them and managed to apprehend the two fleeing suspects and handed them over to Bramley police. Using information from CCTV footage obtained from the homeowner, it was discovered that the suspects gained access into the property by jumping over the wall and proceeded to the Eskom box and switched off the electricity.”

Bramley Police Station spokesperson, Captain Molefe Mogodi said the two suspects were arrested for trespassing and damage to property.

“The pair appeared briefly appeared at Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on 11 March and were remanded in custody pending further investigation to check if the two suspects were not linked to other crimes committed in the area,” he said.

“We thank Fidelity ADT security company for their swift response that led to the arrest of the suspects,” Mogodi said.

Fidelity ADT community development manager Natasha Springfield urged residents to be cautious and alert during load-shedding because criminals were taking advantage of the power interruptions to break into residents’ homes.
