Bramley police urge members of the public to return unwanted and unlicensed firearms

BRAMLEY– Another opportunity for unwanted and unlicensed firearm owners to hand them to the police.

In its efforts to eradicate gun violence in society, the South African Police Service announced another open window for those with unwanted or unlicensed firearms to return them until 31 May 2020.

Firearm officer at Bramley Police Station, Sergeant Nomonde Dube has implored and reminded members of the public to use this rare opportunity to return unwanted and unlicensed firearms to the station.

“We are calling upon those with unlicensed or unwanted firearms to hand them over during this amnesty period which commenced in December last year and will be closing by the end of May this year. The members of the public are encouraged to hand in these firearms to the police at any time at our client service centre. No questions will be asked. Our aim is to give an opportunity to firearm owners,” Dube said.

She said the public could contact the station on 011 445 4127/28 for more information about the firearm amnesty.
