YouTuber’s channel gets one billion views

GLENHAZEL – A YouTube channel, Kruger Sightings – a platform for sharing wildlife sightings from Kruger National Park has acquired more than 1 billion views.

A Glenhazel resident’s passion for wildlife has brought the Kruger National Park into the homes of millions of enthusiasts.

Nadav Ossendryver is the creator of YouTube channel, Kruger Sightings, a platform for sharing wildlife sightings from Kruger National Park which has acquired more than 1 billion views.

Ossendryver launched the channel when he was only 15 years old and encourages people to share their animal sightings in real-time.

The 23-year-old said he started his channel in 2011 and it is now sitting on 1.45 million subscribers.

He added that to keep growing the channel, he ensured the quality of the videos was extremely high and only shared sightings that he thought would grab people’s attention.

“The videos are also authentic, taken by everyday people, so people relate to the videos and share them,” said the YouTuber who received a YouTube Gold Play Button last year for hitting one million subscribers.

Ossendryver said when he created the channel, it was never about the business opportunity but to share his videos.

“I have an absolute passion for wildlife, and that was the driver for the channel which is now a business.”

He is currently studying for a BCom Economics at Witwatersrand on a part-time basis and admitted he was not a keen photographer but his father was. “I focus on film and I have never been much of a professional photographer.”
